A Thought

直到跳出自己的小框框,才能真正懂得珍惜現在所擁有的。
原來我們以前所看的世界是那麽小。
Only when we step out from our comfort zone will we realize how fortunate we are with what we already have.
What a small world we had been living in!

A Fact of Life

"The less you know, the more you think you know. The more you know, the more you realize how much you don't know."

For the last few days in China, I was down with a bad cough and running nose. Seek doctor consultation immediately when we came back to Singapore; currently in the recovery stage.

Rocky trip up and down numerous mountain ranges, braving the cold weather and altitude sickness while climbing the mountains (Huanglong and Mount Emei, which are more than 3000 feet above sea level), and putting all else aside, the eight days in China definitely have been an eye-opening for city-dwellers like us.

We were in Sichuan Province, shuttling through the rural 九寨溝 and urban city Chengdu. The former is the second toughest road in China to conquer (the first being the Silk Road), yet 九寨溝 has the most beautiful mountains and waterfalls Mother Nature has to offer. We also saw the destruction the 5.12 earthquake has done to the area. In addition, we gained insights to the living culture of Tibetans and Qiangs (one of the ethnic groups in China, the Qiang people do not have a written word of their own language; they draw on rock walls to record their everyday life).

Overall, there are many great places in China to visit besides the contemporary Beijing and Shanghai. Be sure you are (mentally and physically) prepared and well-equipped if you are going to attempt mountain-climbing. But once you reached the peak, you would not regret your decision. Through this trip, I learnt that mountain-climbing is indeed the best training exercise yet, and it definitely forges a strong bond with your partner; most importantly, it trains you to take things in your own stride, slow yet steady while enjoying the magnificent view of nature. :]
